Overview
Indonesia completed the transfer of crypto-asset oversight from Bappebti to Otoritas Jasa Keuangan under the P2SK framework, with OJK regulation POJK 27/2024 (as amended by POJK 23/2025) governing crypto-asset trading and custody. Bank Indonesia separately issues and regulates the digital rupiah.
Regulatory framework
OJK licenses crypto-asset trading, custody and related financial activities under the P2SK framework, with capital, governance and investor-protection requirements set out in POJK 27/2024 and its 2025 amendment.
Licensing & authorisation
OJK authorisation is required for crypto-asset exchanges, clearing and custody; formerly Bappebti-registered firms transitioned to OJK supervision.
AML & Travel Rule
Travel Rule obligations are in force under POJK 27/2024, with a USD 1,000 threshold for originator/beneficiary data transfer.
