Overview

As an EU member state, Cyprus applies MiCA directly. The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) is the national competent authority that authorises and supervises crypto-asset service providers established in Cyprus, and previously ran a national CASP registration regime that transitions into MiCA.

Regulatory framework

CySEC authorises CASPs under MiCA and supervises conduct, prudential and AML requirements; authorised firms passport across the EEA.

Licensing & authorisation

Firms apply to CySEC for MiCA CASP authorisation.

AML & Travel Rule

The EU Transfer of Funds Regulation Travel Rule applies to all CASP transfers.
